# Is any of

> When clause operator: The answer equals one of these values.

**Is any of** checks whether the answer matches **at least one** value in your list — an allow-list for single or multi-select choices.

Use it for regional routing (`US`, `CA`, `GB`), role tiers, and any “if they picked one of these options” branch.

***

## When to choose this

| Goal | Use **Is any of** | Use something else instead |
| - | - | - |
| Answer is one of several allowed values | ✓ | Multiple **Equals** in **Any** group |
| Block-list (forbidden set) | ✗ | **[Is none of](/features/studio/logic/operators/not_in)** |
| Must include all listed options | ✗ | **[Includes every of](/features/studio/logic/operators/is_every_of)** |
| Exact multi-select set only | ✗ | **[Equals set](/features/studio/logic/operators/eq_set)** |
| Text substring | ✗ | **[Contains](/features/studio/logic/operators/contains)** |
| Blank | ✗ | **[Is empty](/features/studio/logic/operators/empty)** |

***

## Exact behavior

* **Choice fields only** (select, radio, checkbox list, tags, country, NPS, dual listbox, etc.).
* You provide a **non-empty list** of allowed values (multi-chip in Studio).
* Matching uses flexible [Equals](/features/studio/logic/operators/eq) rules — `"1"` matches `1`.
* **Multi-select:** matches if **any single selected option** is in your list (not “must pick all listed values”).
* Empty allow-list → never matches (fail-closed).
* Blank answers generally do not match.

***

## Which field types

| Family | Available |
| - | - |
| Choice | ✓ |
| Text, number, date, yes/no, presence | — |

***

## Blank / unanswered answers

Generally **does not match**. Null/empty/`[]` will not equal normal choice values. Use [Is empty](/features/studio/logic/operators/empty) for the skipped path.

## Configure in Studio

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open a rule">
    **Logic** → **Rules**, or **Branch** / **Add condition** on a field.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick a choice field">
    Country, Role, Plan, Tags, etc.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Is any of">
    Choice family operator.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add option chips">
    One or more values — `US`, `CA`, `GB`, …
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add Then actions">
    [Show blocks](/features/studio/logic/actions/show-blocks), [Jump to page](/features/studio/logic/actions/jump-to-page).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Test each chip and combinations on Fill">
    Multi-select: one match in list should fire rule.

## Worked examples

### English legal copy

> **When** Country **is any of** `US, CA, GB` → **Then** [Show blocks](/features/studio/logic/actions/show-blocks) `English terms`

Any one of the three countries triggers the block.

### Staff roles

> **When** Role **is any of** `Editor, Admin, Owner` → **Then** [Show blocks](/features/studio/logic/actions/show-blocks) `Advanced settings`

### Priority support tier

> **When** Plan **is any of** `Pro, Enterprise` → **Then** [Show blocks](/features/studio/logic/actions/show-blocks) `Dedicated support`

### Tags include beta

> **When** Tags **is any of** `Beta, Early access` → **Then** [Require answer](/features/studio/logic/actions/require-answer) `Feedback email`

On multi-select, selecting either tag matches.

## Test on fill

<Steps>
  <Step title="Pick one listed option">
    Rule on.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick unlisted option">
    Rule off.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Multi-select: one listed + others">
    Rule on.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Leave empty">
    Rule off.
  </Step>
</Steps>

***

## Common mistakes

* Using **Is any of** when **all** listed options must be selected — use **Includes every of**.
* Using for exact set with no extras — use **Equals set**.
* Block-list instead of allow-list — use **Is none of**.
* Empty chip list in Studio — clause never matches.
